Barbara Fritchie with a Shotgun: Like fellow elderly Marylander Barbara Fritchie, Ishmael Day became famous for defending the flag from rebel invaders during the Civil War. But Day differs from Fritchie in several respects. Barbara Fritchie probably didn't do what she is famous for doing, and Day used a shotgun. Day was also a veteran of the War of 1812.

The Death of Ross

Beside the North Point Road, September 12, 1814

At this spot, on September 12, 1814, General Robert Ross died. He had been mortally wounded in conflict approximately 1-1/2 miles northwest of here, at the present site of the Aquila Randall monument, and carried by stretcher to this point. He was later interred in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Erected by the Dundalk Patapsco Neck Historical Society and Patapsco Neck Bicentennial Committee.

The Aquila Randall Monument in Dundalk

This small monument was erected in 1817 by the comrades of Aquila Randall who at age 24 was killed defending Baltimore at the battle of North Point on September 12, 1814. It stands on North Point Road in Dundalk near Old Battle Grove Road.
